What is Domain Name?

A domain name is the name of the website. A domain name is used for finding and identifying the server computers on the Internet where the files related to the website reside. Computers use IP addresses which are strings of numbers. It is difficult for humans to remember series of numbers. To overcome this problem, a domain name is mapped with the IP address(s) using DNS (Domain Name System). When a user tries to access a website using domain name, DNS translates the domain name into IP address.
