PM Has Inaugurated Statue Of Unity Today, Book Tickets Online

The SOU is located on the Sadhu Bet Island on the Narmada. The height of the statue is 183 metre, which is almost twice that of Statue of Liberty (93 metre). It took three and a half years to complete it. Over 3,000 workers, including 300 engineers from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) infrastructure were engaged for it.

PM Narendra Modi has inaugurated the SOU, the 182-metre tall statue of Iron Man Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel today as October 31 is his birth anniversary.

Post the grand inauguration event, the statue will be open for public visit from November 3. People will have to book tickets online to visit the statue at

Entry ticket for adults is Rs. 120 and Rs. 60 is for Children between 3 to 15 years. The ticket includes entry to the ‘Valley of Flower’, memorial, museum and an audio-visual gallery, SOU site and the Sardar Sarovar Dam. For observation deck view, the ticket price is Rs. 350.

Tickets to avail the bus services cost Rs. 30 for adults and Re. 1 for children. If you have booked entry ticket or observation deck ticket, then the bus ticket need not be booked separately. The SOU can be visited from 9 am to 6 pm.

“The statue will stand high, not just in metres and feet, but much more in terms of academic, historical, national and spiritual value. My vision is to develop the place as a source of inspiration for ages to come,”The prime minister’s note said.

As Gujarat chief minister, Modi had announced the project in 2010 ahead of the civic elections in Ahmadabad.  The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust(SVPRET), set up by Modi in 2011 arranged some 129 tonnes of iron implements, nearly 100 million farmers from 169,000 villages across all states to construct the base of the statue.

The Rs. 3,050 crore project, fully funded by the Gujarat government, was brought to shape by Padma Bhushan winning sculptor Ram V Sutar and intricate bronze cladding work by a Chinese foundry, the Jiangxi Toqine Company(JTQ)
