In breaking news, Kamal Nath is the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. After the meeting, Congress Party announced Kamal Nath as the new CM. The party believes Kamal Nath is the right man to serve the people of Madhya Pradesh.

Kamal Nath, a nine time-MP from Chhindwara who runs the Congress’s Madhya Pradesh unit, was made chief minister-designate on December 13.

Nath, 72, was one of two contenders for the top job — the other being Jyotiraditya Scindia, also a Lok Sabha MP.

The decision came after hours of deliberation over the issue by Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and the party high command.

The official Twitter account of the Indian National Congress congratulated Kamal Nath in a post.

What happened earlier?

Congress President Rahul Gandhi had said that he will announce the names of the chief ministers for states of MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh after taking various inputs from the party MLAs.

Some hours ago, Jyotiraditya Scindia, while speaking to the media, said, “It is not a race, it is not about kursi (post), we are here to serve the people of Madhya Pradesh. I am leaving for Bhopal and you will get to know the decision today.”

Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.- Leo Tolstoy.”

In 2014, the BJP won 27 of Madhya Pradesh’s 29 Lok Sabha seats. Jyotiraditya Scindia won one of the two remaining seats. Kamal Nath won the other.
